Hey folks,
Been busy lately working on the new website, WSR.im, so I haven’t really been updating the blog. But the other day I ordered a new 650 Watt generic power supply, and today I ordered a new HIS 5770 (link to the product on Newegg.com) and am now waiting for it to come. This is great, as I currently have a 5450, and can’t play a lot of games because of the lag. The 5770 might not be the highest on the grade of cards, but for the price they have it at you can’t beat it. It’s $129.99 with a $30 Mail-in-rebate, bring the price to just $99.99 with free shipping. Now that’s a deal; next will be getting a new case and a new motherboard so I can grab a second one of these put them into crossfire, which should be enough for the very little games I play.
Other nice part is now I can take my 5450 and put it into my HTPC, so I can use HDMI to view DVD’s etc now instead of the VGA, which hey, might increase the quality a bit.
Once I get the new card and PSU this will I’ll post with my experiences.

Hey folks,
Cwsterling and me have been working on a great underground farm (good addon to your mine) so you can grow wheat to make bread (as Minepedia states one of the easiest and best foods to have as wheats stackable).
Here is the preview of the farm below.

It’s still an ever expanding work in progress so once it’s done you’ll be sure to see it again.

Well Folk,
Writing tutorials isn’t for me, so I am just going back to blogging about my life and fun stuff I do. I am currently starting up a new Minecraft SMP (Survial Multi-Player) server community over at MineWarriors.com; feel free to take a look or check it out. Currently it’s a small world but we are expanding every day so feel free to help develop our community.
Other than that works been great over at x10Hosting; the new tech teams doing good so there are limited tickets to answer and free hosting’s been doing great.

Hello,
Today I will be continuing from the first tutorial, which was how to install cPanel/WHM on your server. By starting this guide, I assume you 1) Have cPanel installed and 2) Know your servers IP.
Ok, the first step today is to login to WHM. You can do this by going to http://IPHERE:2086. In my case, I am running a test server on 192.168.1.11, so my URL would be http://192.168.1.11:2086/.
Once there it’ll ask me for a username and a password. For the username, please input ‘root’. This is the master account which has complete control over WHM. The password is your current root password, after inputing these please click the login button.

Hello Folks,
Today we will be starting with the basics, how to install cPanel/WHM on CentOS. I will be using CentOS 5.5 64-bit as my base OS; this will be the same for RedHat and for 32-bit also.
First we need to start with a fresh install of CentOS, you don’t need to install anything like Apache, MySQL, etc as the cPanel installer will take care of it all for us.
When reading this tutorial, I am going to assuming you know the basics of a shell (aka using SSH as some would say, if your running Windows I recommend PuTTy).
Ok, the first step is to make sure you are logged into your shell, the screen should look something similar to below.

Once we are both there, the next command will be to make the ‘cpinstall’ folder in your /home directory, you can do that by running the code below.

Hello Guys,
Sorry about that, I was having an issue with the load balancer setup I was running redirecting the traffic wrong, so in the end I ended up just disabling the load balancer as it was only a test.
So now it’s back, and I need to get working on my other site. So much for having it ready this month.
In other news, I have been buying games like crazy off Steam.

Hello Folks,
As of right now, we are now load balanced. The site might be notably faster, although it’s running off of the same MySQL server for now.
This is all testing for the new site, so if you find any problems please e-mail me at brandon[@]brandonlong[.]me.
Thanks,
Brandon

Hello Folks,
Well, it’s been a busy week for me and my life. Haven’t been doing anything but work, sleep, etc. I am going to hopefully finish up the load balancing setup today, and then I can continue work on the new brandonlong.me.
So, if the sites goes down for a period it’s just me testing.
Thanks,
Brandon

Hello Folks,
We are now on a CentOS Based VPS again, running Apache with PHP5 once again. This is due to the rapid development of my new site and the fact that I like CentOS better (:.
We are using Apache because of subversion control, and we will be setting up a bug tracker in the near future to track bugs on the new site, that will be up and running again tomorrow.
As always if there are any problems feel free to let us know.
